What is Parkour Adventure?

Parkour Adventure is inspired by the original model of parkour training: community jams! Kids create movement challenges and games while exploring different locations, giving them the freedom to navigate their own parkour training while learning risk assessment and technique collaboratively from their coaches. Specific examples of what we will learn include climbing, swinging, safe landing techniques, balancing, and more!

Parkour's emphasis on incremental progression and reflection helps students develop healthy strategies for overcoming mental and emotional hurdles as well. By training together, kids build stronger bodies, friendships, and self-awareness.

The fall semester runs September - January. All Manhattan locations are once a week, DOE Holidays excluded.

What to Expect/What’s Different?

  • A semester of Parkour Adventure costs $27-$66 per session (with sliding scale options).

  • We only offer Parkour Adventure as a full semester to support group cohesion and ensure each student receives the benefit of a full parkour curriculum. There are no drop-in options.

  • We strive to be weatherproof, but in the event of dangerous weather conditions (e.g., flash flooding, tropical storms, or weather advisories), we will default to an online session via Zoom.

  • We will continue to offer sliding scale pricing for those in need. Sliding scale pricing is available via coupon codes on the purchase page. Sliding-scale is fully funded by the generosity of our community. Any families that can afford to pay a little more are directly supporting those who cannot.

    • In 2022, we donated more than $180,000 to families in need through our sliding scale pricing.

  • All payments are non-refundable, but credit may be used towards other Movement Creative programming, gear, or pop-up equipment if there are any last-minute cancellations. Registration is for the entire semester.

Promo codes for sliding scale can be found in the description on our booking platform

FAQs

What happens on rainy/snowy/icy days? Do you cancel camp?

We try our very best to be weatherproof and train in all kinds of weather conditions. However, we will cancel camp if there is a safety concern for our students or our coaches. In the event of a cancellation, Parkour Adventure will default to online and we will notify you by 8AM the morning of.

Examples of dangerous weather conditions include: Severe thurnderstorms, winter snow advisories that may affect transit to/from class, or flash flood warnings. Since many of our coaches commute to class via public transport or bike, we want to avoid anyone getting stranded after a session ends.

Please make sure your child is prepared for the cold and the rain. For some tips on what gear to bring, visit our Cold Weather Guide and our Rain Day page.

What about water fountain/bathroom breaks?

At least one coach will accompany campers to the water fountains or bathrooms.

Coaches will check who is in the bathroom prior to student entering. If possible, they will wait until the bathroom is empty before allowing students to enter.

Coaches will monitor handwashing to ensure that students are washing thoroughly (20 seconds). Coaches may also use gloves to operate faucet nozzles, towel dispensers, or open doors. Gloves will be disposed of immediately afterwards.

What does my child need?

Pack a reusable water bottle and a snack. NO NUTS PLEASE.

On hot days, pack an extra pair of clothes if your child is likely to play in sprinklers during free time.

Bring a backpack that can be worn on 2 shoulders, (no tote, messenger, or roller bags).

You can pack your own sunblock or bug spray, coaches will always carry this as well.

Please indicate in your profile if your child has any allergies or medical conditions.

Though students sometimes have free time, refrain from packing an inappropriate amount of toys from home. No electronics allowed.

All coaches travel with:

Hand sanitizer and antibacterial wipes

Disposable gloves for emergency use (we want to remain as sustainable as possible in our safety efforts)

A first aid kit

A water cooler and an extra water bottle

Sunblock and bug-spray

Coach Kit, includes single-use chalk or jenga blocks for campers to keep

Refunds & Cancellations

Parkour Adventure is non-refundable as we commit to paying our coaches for the entire semester once the semester has been booked. We issue a credit towards another service in the event of a cancellation.

Can I book single days/weeks?

We do not offer single day or one-off week purchases for Parkour Adventure.

It is important that your child is present at the beginning of the semester when we focus on fundamental movements.

Parkour is also a social activity and we build a team throughout the semester.

How does sliding-scale work?

Sliding-scale works by community support. Participants who can pay full price are financially supporting those who choose to use a discount code.

Sliding-scale is not subsidized by outside organizations, it is made possible by those who choose to pay full price.

Accessibilty to quality programming is important to us, so we will continue to offer sliding-scale options as long as we can sustainably do so.
