What makes it different?

We believe strongly in experiential learning, and this program is built with the understanding that people support what they help to create.

While we give students an opportunity to explore the curriculum we provide, we will also observe which topics the children in the group are most connected with and then invite them to contribute and help shape the program.

We are also happy to collaborate with parents prior to the start of the semester to better understand how we can meet educational expectations. We strive to be clever, tenacious, and adaptable and to teach and lead people towards being lifelong learners by modeling that ourselves.

What does class look like?

Each of our classes are unique and are shaped by our students’ interests, the locations, and the weather. Here are some recent clips from our Parkour Adventure program to give you an idea of what your child can expect for parkour instruction. We love sharing movement games to encourage group participation, but we also know plenty of technique-based drills if students are interested in honing specific parkour moves.

FAQs

What safety measures is The Movement Creative taking?

Every child will have their temperature taken with a no-touch thermometer at drop off.

We will modify our curriculum to include that games that do not involve physical contact.

Every family will undergo an online screening every two weeks to ensure that they are not at risk, and they are not putting other families at risk.

TMC Coaches will be tested for COVID-19 before teaching and every 2 weeks while leading outdoor sessions.

What happens on rainy/snowy/icy days? Do you cancel camp?

We try our very best to be weatherproof and train in all kinds of weather conditions. However, we will cancel camp if there is a safety concern for our students or our coaches. In the event of a cancellation, Parkour Adventure will default to online and we will notify you by 8AM the morning of.

Examples of dangerous weather conditions include: Severe thurnderstorms, winter snow advisories that may affect transit to/from class, or flash flood warnings. Since many of our coaches commute to class via public transport or bike, we want to avoid anyone getting stranded after a session ends.

Please make sure your child is prepared for the cold and the rain. For some tips on what gear to bring, visit our Cold Weather Guide and our Rain Day page.

What about water fountain/bathroom breaks?

At least one coach will accompany campers to the water fountains or bathrooms.

Coaches will use gloves to operate water fountains for campers so they can fill up water bottles without touching the fountain. Gloves will be disposed of immediately afterwards.

Coaches will check who is in the bathroom prior to student entering. If possible, they will wait until the bathroom is empty before allowing students to enter.

Limit to 2 students maximum in the bathroom at a time (for group bathrooms).

Coaches will monitor handwashing to ensure that students are washing thoroughly (20 seconds) and are not touching surfaces in the bathroom. Coaches may also use gloves to operate faucet nozzles, towel dispensers, or open doors. Gloves will be disposed of immediately afterwards.

We issue a credit towards another service in the event of a cancellation, however we can issue a refund if we are able to fill your spot prior to the semester beginning.

On days of inclement weather you can opt into our Online Camp if you prefer

Can I book single days/weeks?

In an effort to limit exposure, we are no longer offering single day or one-off week purchases for Parkour Adventure.

It is important that your child is present at the beginning of the semester when we focus on fundamental movements.

Parkour is also a social activity and we build a team throughout the semester.

How does sliding-scale work?

Sliding-scale works by community support. Participants who can pay full price are financially supporting those who choose to use a discount code.

Sliding-scale is not subsidized by outside organizations, it is made possible by those who choose to pay full price.

Accessibilty to quality programming is important to us, so we will continue to offer sliding-scale options as long as we can sustainably do so.
