Which class is right for me?

The Movement Creative offers several classes across a wide range of skills and focuses. While each session is designed to be friendly for both newcomers and parkour veterans, it can be tough sometimes to know which class is best for you. We created this quick guide to help you understand the differences between sessions and help you make an informed decision before you start moving with us.

  • Intensity: 5/10

    Best Suited For: Beginners or students looking to brush up on their movement fundamentals. The soft mats and blocks at Cocoon make it a great introduction or re-introduction to movement if you’re working your way up to training outdoors. Also a great option for those coming back after an injury or a hiatus.

  • Intensity: 8/10

    Best Suited For: Students of any skill level are welcome, but expect a decent workout. These sessions run year-round outdoors, and the attitude that the Tuesday crew brings is to attend “no matter what.” If you want a strong community of movers to hold you accountable to your training, this is the session for you.

  • Intensity: 7/10

    Best Suited For: While beginners are welcome to join this session, some parkour or sport experience is suggested as a baseline level of strength and coordination will help immensely. If you’ve ever dreamed of doing a flip into the pool or backflipping your way onto the dance floor, this session will teach you how to get more comfortable upside down. Coaches will also give you plenty of conditioning exercises to ensure your body is strong and limber enough to handle the impact of flipping.

  • Intensity: 5/10

    Best Suited For: Students looking for more of a “classic” parkour experience will feel at home during Saturday sessions. Featuring a mix of technique work, movement games, and partner challenges, these outdoor classes are a great introduction to parkour and our community. All ages are welcome, so it’s a perfect opportunity for the entire family to move together.

mONDAYS

INDOOR PARKOUR - 6:30 - 8:30 PM
with Coach Adam

Location: Cocoon (316 Greenwich St.)

Price: $60 Drop-in, Monthly membership starting at $175/month

This session will have us working on fundamental movements and skills in a more controlled environment. The foam blocks and mats are a perfect way to push your skills to the next level or workshop a new movement before taking it outside to the concrete. 

We will focus on jumping, vaulting, and swinging with various drills, skill progressions, conditioning, and movement games. We welcome all experience levels to join, so this is a great place to start if you're brand new to parkour or if you're more seasoned and looking to level up your movement. Pre-registration is required, masks are recommended but not required, and you must bring indoor shoes or grippy socks.

Tuesdays

WEATHERPROOF - 6:30 - 8:30 PM
with Coaches Jesse and Adam

Locations: Rotating all over Manhattan (see here for the schedule)

Price: $30/Class suggested donation

Our Weatherproof Class is outdoors and in-person- rain, shine, sleet or snow. We are firm believers in training in all weather to improve physical and mental health. We will meet at a new location every Tuesday to explore the possibilities of our bodies and our environment. This is an all-level class that will focus on parkour techniques, games, and drills.

tHURSDAYS

ACRO BASICS - 6:30 - 8:30 PM
with Coach Mike

Location: Cocoon (316 Greenwich St.)

Price: $60 Drop-in, Monthly membership starting at $175/month

This class introduces acrobatics and flipping technique. We’ll cover handstands, cartwheels, twisting, front, back, and side flips, with the possibility to expand into more advanced techniques depending on skill levels.

We will break down these skills using drills, stations, skill progressions, and conditioning. The class will use mats and spotting blocks along with the the soft astroturf inside Cocoon. Pre-registration is required, masks are recommended but not required, and you must bring indoor shoes or grippy socks.

Saturdays

PARKOUR PLUS - RIVERSIDE PARK SOUTH - 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Price: $60 Drop-in, Monthly memberships starting at $175/month

Weekend classes in Riverside Park South will run outdoors rain or shine. We will be running our adult and youth classes at the same time with separate coaches. Spaces are limited, so please register for class prior to arrival.
